Volunteering

I recently helped facilitate a 24 piece art collection for my son’s school. It took 5 of my Mon/Tuesdays to complete and I’m excited to say it came together fabulously! Better than I had imagined. The pieces were made to auction off in hopes of raising funds for a garden teacher position.

Last Saturday all but 3 pieces were sold (which may have sold by now), so it was a success.

Now I’m 5 weeks behind with my Averyboo summer planning so I better get back to work… here’s just a peak until I’m able to get the final art show photos:

5 Year Anniversary!

It has been 5 years since we opened our doors!

My little boy was only 2-1/2 when we acquired the space – now he’s EIGHT. I opened the business for he & I and Avery is still my biggest cheerleader. I am fortunate to have been able to build something creative for myself and the community that has allowed me to keep my child by my side & raise him in such an open environment.

In the early days (before he went to school), Avery always had something creative to do.

It hasn’t been a piece of cake, mind you. Don’t know if I would “do it all again” knowing what I know now, but this is my path and more opportunities & growth await! Avery is learning so much through this process also.

How LUCKY am I to have witnessed my child’s very first painting of our family?

I used to have a little cot upstairs for Avery to nap on, but he preferred his club house (empty cabinet).

Averyboo ArtsI want to thank my son & my husband for their unwavering support; putting up with all the craziness. And to my Mom who takes care of the plants and my Dad, AKA “Mr. Pops” who provides a small music segment in Paint, Play & Music… Thanks to my super-cool instructors Ms. Tania & Ms. Kathryn who provide fun classes for our students and thanks to all our awesome MINI ARTISTS & PARENTS who attend class &/or help out during the week. Always remember that YOU are the artist™! Peace.

A small group of boys came in for Open Studio and made NINJA’s! These fierce little guys were made with corks, tape & match sticks. Cool, eh?

Favorite Photo Friday: My Little Leprechaun

This is my silly little boy playing at the studio 3 years ago on St. Patty’s Day.
I recently celebrated my fourth year here & looking at this picture made me reflect on how great it was to have my son at my side while building this business from the ground up. It’s been challenging, but Avery & I have had so much fun together!

NYE @ Noon Party - Limbo Stick

I’m going to try and post about the holidays & our NYE party over the weekend, but in the meantime, please enjoy this picture of my son. He thought this move would be easy (notice the hands in the pocket), but his face tells us otherwise 😉
